Riding the Hype Cycle: The importance of hype in product development

Product success isn’t just about gathering requirements and building great features that consumers love.
If you can believe that a billionaire would build a theme park on a remote island and use genetic engineering to bring dinosaurs back to life… then this talk is for you!

Hype is everywhere, but do we really understand how important it is to get right, how it impacts product adoption, and how badly things can go wrong?
In this talk you’ll hear about how The Gartner Hype Cycle tracks a products’ journey and understand why some recently hyped products have not (yet) hit the mark.

We’ll investigate each stage of the cycle, see how we can spot the signs of unjustified hype as well as understanding the value of a well-timed pivot.

Timing is everything!
